The light in the gallery is minimal and soft, and the paintings are in muted tones, the colors muted with a warm grayish-blue. Some are abstract and some are realistic with landscapes in the background. The exhibition includes paintings, mixed media works and drawings.
Cottage Grove artist Lynne Johnson works in acrylics. Her large acrylic paintings include a wide variety of colors.
"The series is titled 'Walking in the Woods' and it's based on some of my walks through the woods in the Lakeville area," she said. "I enjoy the quietness of walking through the woods, the beauty of nature, the sounds of the birds and the rustling of the leaves. The end result is soothing and relaxing."
Her "Pine Trees" series is comprised of five acrylic paintings on canvas. "The pine trees were painted in a unique way, with a texture applied with a roller," she said. "The brush strokes are made with a soft-bristled brush and then lightly rolled on the canvas. I enjoy the soft colors that are created with this technique."
The exhibition was a collaboration between the gallery, the artist and a local landscaper and horticulturist who helped decorate the gallery. "I painted the landscape in the background with a garden theme," the
